Description
Join us on Sept. 22, when guest speaker Dr. Megan Smetzer will be talking about her recently published book “Painful Beauty: Tlingit Women, Beadwork, and the Art of Resilience.”
Her research tackles issues of immediate social relevance in the context of First Nations history and culture. “Painful Beauty” is the first dedicated study of Tlingit beadwork and contributes to the expanding literature addressing women’s artistic expressions on the Northwest Coast.
This event is jointly sponsored by the Art History department and the Women’s and Gender Studies department and is free and open to everyone in the campus community.
