Build the skills you need to start a career in healthcare. Through the Supportive Care Assistant Training program, eligible British Columbians can receive 10 weeks of training to prepare them to enter the healthcare field in non-clinical supportive care roles and/or pursue further education in the healthcare field.
This program combines online and in-person training. The online portion is self-paced and accessible through our learning platform, while the in-person training will be conducted at VCC’s downtown campus. Additionally, the program includes a 3-4 week unpaid work experience placement. The program covers topics such as:
- Professionalism and collaboration
- Client and family-centred care
- Safe and supportive assistance
- Inclusive communication
- Skills for success
The program is tuition-free. VCC received funding for delivery of the Supportive Care Assistant program through the Future Skills Grant program. This funding was provided by the Province of British Columbia.
