Northern Lights College provides post-secondary education in the northern third of British Columbia, covering an area of more than 325,000 square kilometres. The college offers upgrading, academic, trades and apprenticeship training, lifelong learning, and professional development programs.

Several transfer agreements allow students to directly transfer credits earned at Northern Lights College to partner universities in British Columbia and Alberta.

Basic Admissions Requirements

Canadian citizens or landed immigrants applying to Academic and Career programs should be BC secondary school graduates or deficient in no more than two courses from BC secondary school graduation, which, if available, must be completed while attending College. Many Vocational programs require Grade 10 completion, however some require Grade 11 or 12 with specific prerequisite course completion.

Residence Options

Student housing on the Dawson Creek campus is comprised of two wings with capacity for 190 students and includes assisted living units. Options include one, two, three, and four-bedroom units, each furnished with a bed, small dresser, bookshelves, computer station, chair, and is internet and telephone ready. Each unit has a kitchen with a stove, fridge, microwave, table, and chairs. The residence surrounds a common block with a games area and separate study areas.

Student housing in Fort St. John has capacity for 102 students and includes assisted living units. Options include two or four-bedroom units. Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, small dresser, bookshelves, computer station, chair, and is internet and telephone ready.

International Student Info

For over 20 years, Northern Lights College has been welcoming international students from around the world, studying English as a Second Language (ESL), university transfer classes, and vocational and trades programs. Many students complete certificates or diplomas and then successfully transfer to universities across Canada to complete their degree.

English Language Requirement

Students who wish to enter the University Transfer Programs must have an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5. Some programs have stricter admission requirements.
