A unique new partnership between Langara College and the Academy of Art University, San Francisco (ArtU) will train students for careers in gaming and film. The program, which will be located at a 38,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility at 565 Great Northern Way in Vancouver, is a response to the local industry demand for skilled artists.

The ArtU at Langara programs will focus on VFX, 3D modelling, gaming, and other technology-related creative arts; skills needed to immediately enter the job market. Admission requirements include a portfolio of 15-20 of applicants best pieces of work, in either digital or hardcopy format, and can include sketches, renderings, and design variations that showcase their capabilities as an artist.

The gaming industry has over 170 game development studios in the Vancouver area alone, and a report by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada indicates that Canada’s gaming industry contributes $3.7 billion to the country’s economy.

Program and admissions information for the Continuing Studies Diploma in Advanced 3D Animation is on the Langara College website.
