The Government of British Columbia is investing $1.26M in early childhood educator (ECE) training at five public postsecondary institutions. The funding will enable BC to add 108 ECE seats, most of which will be delivered through a work-integrated learning approach, which will give students the opportunity to gain experience in the field as they complete their training.

Students can also take classes in-person or online in a traditional model and gain both theoretical and practicum experience. Programs are planned at Camosun College on Vancouver Island, Capilano University in Vancouver, the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology in Burnaby and Merritt, Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek / Fort St. John in the Northeast, and Selkirk College in the West Kootenays. BC has also invested about $16M in student bursaries.
